Homeless Depot: A Moral Alternative

Home Depot, the nation's largest home-improvement chain, was accused in a Federal lawsuit today of discriminating against the homeless. "The very existence of Home Depot is offensive to the sensitivities of people without homes," says Nadine Strossen, head of the ACLU who filed the case, adding that the word "home" itself smacks of racism, bigotry, and intolerance and thus should be treated as hate speech.

The suit seeks unspecified damages on behalf of seven homeless people, some of them of color, squatting in an abandoned building next to the Home Depot parking lot in the Coney Island area of New York.

"We hope to win a ruling that would make it a class-action suit on behalf of all homeless who ever laid their eyes on the insensitive Home Depot sign and felt offended and/or excluded as a result."

Officials for Home Depot, based in Atlanta, retorted by offering a settlement. "If the ACLU wants to build an alternative national chain called 'Homeless Depot' to counterbalance our chain, we will help them with expertise and supplies," a spokesman for Home Depot said. "We will provide an assortment of items for all your homeless needs - blankets, begging cups, cardboard boxes, pre-fabricated begging signs, and Smell-in-a-Can products."

The ACLU dismissed the offer, saying that such project might get them bogged down with lowly business matters, distracting from the noble cause of supervising an even redistribution of wealth. "But we like the idea," Nadine Strossen declared. "The ACLU will make sure the Court orders the company to build a nation-wide chain of Homeless Depot stores and to pay the homeless to hang out, er, scratch that... work in them."
 

Comrades did you all not know that homes are among the biggest offenders against mother earth?!!!! How many trees must be slaughtered for a corporate Lil Eichmann to have a deck where a man grills our slaughtered pig and cow brethren!!!!
 

In a show of solidarity with the environmentally conscious (Homeless is a term used by the evil capitalistic home "owners") all members of our beloved ACLU will destroy their own homes with tools bought from the more ambiguously named "Lowe's" chain. No longer will the people tolerate these dwellings! The people must live as the livestock does just as nature (NOT G-D!) intended. Comrads! We must eliminate these walls that separate the classes. All hail the progressive environmentally conscious wall-less symbols of revolution!

I will admit I am truly at a loss about Home Depot. It is truly biased against the homeless, but if we do away with the Home Depot where will our Mexican brethren hang out ? Where will they plan the Reconquista?!!!!! I say we pretend to ignore the plight of the homeless, because the returning of Texas and the left coast to Mexico is a far more noble cause.

I used to work for Lowe's, and Hechingers back in the day, and I knew many people at Home Depot. No, they're not unionized. The clostest thing that I know of that is unionized is Costco, which is unionized by the Teamsters.

neat factoid. your average Costco forklift driver makes 40 grand a year after 5 years employment. the same guy at Sam's Club might make 18 to 23 grand. Costco's labor costs are lower per store than Sam's. How? Productivity is higher and turn over is next to nil.

You Know wat im sick and tired about hearing about the homeless you no wat it is their fucking fault their that way they made the choices so they have to deal with
 

Comrades, it seems we have two thoughtcriminals on our hands in one day. A re-education is in order. Should we send them directly to the Commissar of Housekeeping - or try a softer approach at the Commissariat of Mental Health? Yes, that is the one that chased me out to my car, demanding Change(TM). Finally I threw a handful of coins at the creature and it went away. But the coins were simply tokens for the Gulag Express, so perhaps this person will end up toiling in the Beet Fields for the Greater Good(TM)
 

Hahahaha. . . or perhaps we can have it do some more alternatives for the Greater Good, like chasing RethugliKKKans out, or keeping our MTE entertained (talk to Theo on that one), or just have her shovel the beets in the field.

The possibilities are growing.
